A fun story about my computer

The universe is always speaking to us...sending us little messages, causing coincidences and serendipities, reminding us to stop, to look around, to believe in something else, something more.

~ Nancy Thayer

Last Thursday, I picked up my water-damaged computer from the service shop.

The diagnostic procedure revealed that the laptop was highly corroded. To repair it would cost beyond $1,600.

Sadly, my extended service warranty had expired three weeks before.

The service provider recommended I replace it.

Lucky for me the replacement cost for a newer, comparable model would be roughly $1,299 with current promotions. I didn't buy it.

After picking up the laptop, my husband and I attempted again to charge it using various tools with no luck.

For some reason, a few days later, I decided to try again.

I felt a little dejected that day and needed a reminder that the universe has my back.

Perseverance

Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.

~ John Quincy Adams

To put into context what I am about to say:

  1. I started questioning my religion in grade 10 when I learned about Darwin. Evolution made more sense to me.

  2. When I sought and could not find scientific references for new concepts compelling me to question what I was being taught, the director of the nutrition school I attended reprimanded me claiming that not everything can yet be scientifically proven. It took a while to wrap my head around that.

  3. Looking back, a 2006 review I wrote on Louise Hay’s metaphysical book, You Can Heal Your Life, was shamefully scathing.

Finding myself alone, I placed my hands on the computer and solicited the help of the archangel of tech support, whoever that might be.

I opened the laptop and pressed the power button. I thought I detected a subtle change in colour of the screen, but it did not power on.

With a glimmer of hope, I placed my hands on the laptop again and appealed to a higher power. I opened the laptop, pressed the power key a second time and, low and behold, it started. It’s been charging and working beautifully ever since.

Perhaps the few extra days to dry up helped. Maybe the technician, seeing the history of water damage, saw this as an opportunity to make a sale and did not expend much effort on the diagnostics.

Perhaps I am being nudged to become more trusting of our inner power.

Whatever the reason, I am grateful for the miraculous recovery.
