Give people the benefit of the doubt, and you’ll often find they rise to the occasion. Assume the worst, and they’ll rarely surprise you with the best.

We can bring out the best or worst in people. Even supervillains can become superheroes.
Giving people the benefit of the doubt is a mindset of assuming that someone’s intentions are good, even when uncertainty surrounds the circumstances.
A shift in perspective from blame and judgment to curiosity and understanding paves the way for serenity.
Assuming good intentions rather than malice leads to more positive interactions with people, healthier relationships and happiness.
When confronted with impassioned pleas to see things from another’s perspective, I pause and listen respectfully, no matter how outlandish the claims are. While hyper vigilance is not conducive to personal health, it has saved humanity.
Sometimes, I take the time to find and share evidence of good deeds performed by those portrayed as villains. I play devil’s advocate, thinking critically, challenging assumptions, and considering multiple perspectives.
Closing thought
Kindness is not a sign of weakness but a demonstration of strength and humanity.
