Fasting is a constant means of renewing yourself spiritually.
~ Jentezen Franklin
The world is changing. Many of us no longer listen to news networks or read newspapers.
Podcast interviews, by those we have come to trust, have created a new way to stay connected and tuned into current affairs.
The other day, as I sat waiting for service, a television screen flashed the latest news headlines.
Apparently, the world is on fire, and I have ignored it.
As a young mother, I remember being reprimanded by a well-meaning relative for being oblivious to current affairs.
But, just as a temporary food fast can be good for the body, a news-fast can do wonders for the mind and spirit.
If it bleeds it leads
To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.
~ Lao Tzu
In the last couple of years, news headlines have featured the devastating impact of a "deadly" virus and the demise of the Russian-Ukranian war.
…until an infectious disease crisis is very real, present, and at an emergency threshold, it is often largely ignored. To sustain the funding base beyond the crisis, we need to increase public understanding of the need for MCMs such as a pan-influenza or pan-coronavirus vaccine. A key driver is the media, and the economics follow the hype. We need to use that hype to our advantage to get to the real issues. Investors will respond if they see profit at the end of process.

A solution needs a problem. Fear sells. It also increases vulnerability and the need to be protected.
The CEO and publisher of a highly respected Canadian newspaper confirmed recently that the pandemic and Russian-Ukranian war have been good for business.
The lens through which I see things recognizes fear creation when I see it. I ignore it, unless I am in a position to take constructive action.
I have other priorities right now.
Love trumps fear.
To function better, a temporary news fast is serving me well.
