The love of a grandparent

A grandmother is warm hugs and sweet memories. She remembers all of your accomplishments and forgets all of your mistakes.

~ Barbara Cage

We had not seen our granddaughters for a month, until Christmas Day. That is the longest I have been away from them.

It was much too long.

The longing I felt to be in their presence at times seemed all-encompassing.

Fortunately, they are here for the better part of a week, and my time with them is my priority.

We are playing outdoors in the snow, eating tasty and healthy homemade food, and giving our daughter a little downtime.

Presence is the greatest gift

Grandchildren don't need a lot of toys. The best thing a grandchild can have is a grandparent who gets down on the floor and plays with them.

The love of a grandparent is a unique and precious gift, characterized by unconditional love and affection in ways distinct from parental love.

We can play a vital role in shaping the lives of our grandchildren by offering them a sense of security, stability, and belonging. For optimal development children need to receive support from at least three non-parent adults.

By embracing our unique role, grandparents can create lasting memories and a strong, loving relationship with grandchildren.

Wishing you all countless blessings over the holiday season and much growth and development in 2025.
