Writing is medicine.
It is an appropriate antidote to injury.
It is an appropriate companion for any difficult change.
~ Julia Cameron
I assume responsibility for any health challenges experienced by those under my care.
As of late, caregiving for loved ones has become very time consuming. It almost feels like a higher source is putting me through first responder boot camp.
Even when feeling subpar, an emergency floods my body with stress hormones that mobilize me into action.
Although I manage to function at a high level, I am human, and my hyper-vigilant mental state has impaired my ability to resolve some minor cold symptoms.
For over a month, I have had a lingering tickle in the back of my throat, and I sound more hoarse than usual. It's nothing to complain about in the grand scheme of things. Many others are suffering much more than I am.
But, given therapeutic journaling has been shown in over a hundred scientific studies to significantly improve immediate and long-term health, including enhancement of immune function, I intend to give it a try and report back to you.
Briefly, therapeutic journaling involves privately writing down and reflecting on all emotions, reactions, and perceptions we have related to a difficult, upsetting, or traumatic life event.
It’s free. You write for 15-20 minutes uninterrupted for four consecutive days. It's worth a try.

Thank you so much for sharing, Renée. The Artists Way wisely points out that we are all powerful creators. We can change our stories, to change our lives. I continue to work on that. 🤗
Both Amanda and I are doing the Artists Way by Julie Cameron. We both do " morning pages" everyday and really enjoy it. We are trying to get Aidan into it as well.
